The Daugavpils flag is one of the official symbols of the city of Daugavpils together with the coat of arms of the city of Daugavpils.
The history of the Daugavpils city flag began in 20 century when four regional cities of Latvia – Riga, Daugavpils, Jelgava and Liepāja – were given flags of standard size and appearance: two bands of equal length and width in different colors with the image of the respective city’s coat of arms in the middle of the flag. It is believed (but not yet documented) that the flag of the city of Daugavpils was approved by the President of Latvia K. Ulmanis in 1937.
