Liepāja has three officially approved symbols – coat of arms, flag and anthem. They reflect the traditions and strength of the city.
Liepāja got its coat of arms with the granting of city rights in 1625 , while the flag was officially proclaimed for the first time in 1938, with the “Law on the Liepaja city flag”.
