The Valmiera flag was approved on December 6, 1996. Its base is the golden color of autumn and the blue of cornflowers, and in the middle is the coat of arms of the city of Valmiera.

The Valmiera flag was approved on December 6, 1996. Its base is the golden color of autumn and the blue of cornflowers, and in the middle is the coat of arms of the city of Valmiera.
These are the colors of Northern Vidzeme, which symbolize the blue waters of Gauja and the yellow meadows of tadpoles on its shores – colors rooted in the city’s history for at least three and a half centuries.
