Liepāja has three officially approved symbols — the coat of arms, the flag, and the anthem. They reflect the traditions and strength of the city.
Liepāja received its coat of arms when city rights were granted in 1625, while the flag was officially proclaimed for the first time in 1938 with the “Law on the Liepāja City Flag”.
